Taking best offers for 2 weeks. BEAUTIFUL PIECE.
57" long / 16" deep / 52" tall
An absolutely stunning circa 1860-1880 flamed mahogany serpentine fronted
library bookcase with ornately carved escargot feet showcasing the front of the
piece with functionally considered straight cut feet featured on the back
allowing the piece to sit directly up against the wall so as to add to the
overall space by becoming part of the room and not just being a piece that’s
been added to it. A very good looking and well made piece, it screams late
Georgian Decadence with its rich deep patina coloring that you only see on
pieces that have such a vibrant and long history that’s so rare to find. This
is one of those pieces that to the untrained eye looks to be quite normal but
those who take a closer look will see the the premium timbers, the sublime
carving details that went into this remarkable piece. It has been cleaned,
waxed and polished from top to bottom. It would make a wonderful addition to
any office, study or library being it's in good used period order throughout.
